Kim Jong-un’s bizarre bid to tempt Russian tourists to North Korea

North Korea has unveiled a peculiar advertisement in a bid to lure more Russian tourists.
Earlier this year, Pyongyang opened its borders to Russians, with approximately 100 making a four-day trip to North Korea, Pyongyang architecture in February.
Government officials are now hoping to increase the influx of tourists from Russia by enticing them to their coastal resorts through a fresh advertising campaign, reports Daily Express UK.
However, the ad’s poor quality might ironically deter potential visitors instead of attracting them.
The video has already gained some notoriety on social media platforms like Reddit due to its subpar production.
The state-owned Korea International Travel Company commissioned the advert, which is believed to have been shot at Majeon Beach in South Hamgyong Province. It features young Russians engaging in activities like playing volleyball and jet skiing.
Unfortunately, the entire shoot is marred by terrible audio quality, rendering it nearly impossible to comprehend what people are saying. In an odd twist, the video shows women strolling around in bikinis, despite such attire being reportedly illegal in North Korea.

Pyongyang has implemented stringent regulations regarding clothing, banning numerous items. The list of banned clothing includes sleeveless shirts, jeans, hair dye, non-creased pants, T-shirts with foreign lettering, shoulder bags, shorts, and figure-hugging tops.
Pyongyang has also recently added “rooster hairstyle” and blouses with see-through sleeves to its list of banned fashion items. The officials claim that these fashion items “obscure the image of a socialist system” and therefore will not be tolerated.
North Korea is finally about to open a new giant beach complex, after years of delay. Dubbed the “North Korean Benidorm,” the Wonsan resort is reported to be able to accommodate as many as 100,000 visitors at a time.
It got its nickname after Kim Jong-un reportedly sent a fact-finding mission to Spain’s Costa Blanca in 2017.
